Dev Dayal

Dev is currently a medical student at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Detroit, MI. He is originally from Toronto, Canada, and received his Bachelors in Human Biology from Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI.
During his time in medical school, Dev serves as a mentor for pre-med and international students who are preparing to apply to medical school in the United States. As well, Dev volunteers at free clinics in Detroit, and spends time shadowing surgeons in the Operating Room at Detroit Medical Centre. During his time in college, Dev was a member of the Honors college, an active member of the Sigma Pi fraternity, and also spent time working on multiple research projects. Most notably, Dev worked as an Intercultural Aide on campus while also working with a select group of students and faculty to develop a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion program to raise racial literacy and cultural competency on campus. In his free time, Dev delves deep into his interest in creative writing. He has been able to win and publish poems in two Canadian National poetry competitions, the Michigan State University Red Cedar Review, and even publish his own poetry anthology. In the future, Dev hopes to be a surgeon while continuing his work at the intersection of healthcare, innovation, and social justice.
